Mining In Nevada

We cannot understand the history of Nevada without discussing mining – the discovery, extraction, and processing of valuable ores from beneath the surface of the land – and its economic and social impact.

This box allows students to explore:

  • how mining impacted the development and growth of the state
  • how it impacted the lives of miners and ranchers and shopkeepers, and their families
  • how it shaped language and culture

The contents, which includes hands-on artifacts, books and activities gives students a fascinating insight.
