Talk: On the Road in Nevada with Arthur Rothstein
September 27 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us for a special presentation by Ann Rothstein-Segan, daughter of celebrated American photographer Arthur Rothstein, as we open our new exhibit,
The New Deal in the New West: On the Road in Nevada with Arthur Rothstein.
In this engaging talk, Rothstein-Segan and her husband, Brodie Hefner, will trace her father’s remarkable 50-year career—from his groundbreaking early work with President Roosevelt’s New Deal agencies to his influential contributions in photojournalism.
In 1940, Rothstein’s lens captured the landscapes, attractions, and western heritage that would soon draw millions of visitors and residents to Nevada. More than 80 years later, his daughter offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at his Nevada assignment, revealing how New Deal investments helped spark decades of rapid growth in the region. Blending personal insights with historical context, this program offers a rare opportunity to explore the legacy of one of America’s most important documentary photographers and get a glimpse at the moment Las Vegas began transforming into the city we know today.
