Nevada Day: Celebrating our state’s 160th birthday

Join us for a full day of fun, educational activities that highlight the rich history and unique spirit of the Silver State. From interactive galleries to crafting and storytelling, it’s a day to embrace everything that makes Nevada special. (P.S. Come dressed in your favorite Nevada-inspired outfit to show your Nevada Day spirit!)   Education Room 9am–4pm: Explore hands-on learning and activities, including our education collection of artifacts and fossils.  1–3pm: Get crafty with local folk artist Vanessa Maciel and create your own replica of the official Nevada state artifact, the Tule Duck Decoy.   Orientation Room  11am: Learn about how Las Vegas has changed over the years, as Maggie Gaspar offers insights from her book, Past & Present: Las Vegas. Book signing to follow outside the Museum Store.   Galleries 2:45 pm: Explore the natural history of Nevada with a Natural History tour with our Museum Guide Moonis Ghani. Tours start under the Columbian Mammoth. FREE for Nevada residents.
