Introducing the most fascinating happy hour in Las Vegas

Michael J. Alarid: “The Road to California is Paved in Blood: Connecting the Old Spanish Trail from New Mexico Territory to Las Vegas, and Beyond”

Join us for our first monthly History Happy Hour at the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas. Unwind from your day with a glass of wine (or other refreshment) and enjoy an engaging talk with Latino history expert, Michael J. Alarid, Associate Professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Professor Alarid’s talk — “The Road to California is Paved in Blood: Connecting the Old Spanish Trail from New Mexico Territory to Las Vegas, and Beyond” — serves as an introduction to the Museum’s upcoming exhibit, The Old Spanish Trail: Connecting a Network of Paths, opening in November. Professor Alarid will explore colonization, violence, resistance, and social accommodation among the Hispanos and Pueblo Peoples involved in the arduous, 700-mile journey from the village of Santa Fe to the Pueblo of Los Angeles.

This free event includes an audience Q&A and access to museum exhibits following the lecture.
