Description

Join us Saturday, December 16th at 10 am as  Jeff Scheid and Anna Fallini-Berg tell the stories behind the photographs featured in our new changing exhibit, Ranching in the High Desert: Five Generations, One Family.

For more than three decades, Jeff Scheid has been photographing Nevada. Ranching in the High Desert: Five Generations, One Family captures the photographer’s work with Nye County’s Fallini family and their day-to-day operations, including teaching the skills of roundup and branding to the younger generation. The Fallinis have ranched central Nevada’s arid desert for 150 years – for as long as there’s been a Nevada. Ensuring survival of the family’s Twin Springs Ranch has required careful stewardship of the countryside, healthy respect for a fickle Mother Nature and, increasingly, political and policy skill to maneuver ever-changing federal regulations on land use in rural Nevada.

Ranching in the High Desert: Five Generations, One Family will be on display Oct. 28 through Dec. 31, 2017.

This program is free for members or with general Springs Preserve admission.
