The Friends of NSMLV October meeting will be held on Thursday, October 21. Doors open 2.00pm for 2.30pm start at the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas.
Guest speaker is Dylan Person, and his topic is “Archaeology in Nevada”
Southern Nevada is home to many different types of archaeological sites, from rock writings made by ancient nomadic foragers to early U.S. settlement and development in the region. This talk will tour some of these places and describe how archaeologists use what is found at sites to interpret and explain the past through the everyday things that people left behind.
Dylan is a doctoral candidate in the UNLV Department of Anthropology and a graduate assistant at Desert Research Institute. He studies the relationship between technology, social groups, and culture as well as how archaeology can show ways this knowledge is transferred through learning groups.
The doors will open at 2:00 PM for sign-in and socializing
