Description
Celebrating Women’s History Month!

Today we are exploring fossils and mining in recognition of Margaret Wheat, self-taught geologist and anthropologist with a special interest in ichthyosaurs and Eilley Orrum Bowers, owner of part of the Comstock mine.
Come and join us to discover more about our state fossil, the ichthyosaur, and about the women who championed the creation of the Berlin Ichthyosaur Park – click here for more about her life.
We will also explore the mining that contributed to Nevada becoming recognized as a state in 1864 and how Eilley Bowers experienced the boom and bust so often associated with that life.
Activities are all free with regular admission.
