NSMLV Hires New Curator of Learning and Community Engagement

The Nevada State Museum in Las Vegas has hired Jordan R. Canal as the curator responsible for programming and education for the organization. This position is part of the Division of Museums and History within the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs.  

Ms. Canal has over a decade of developing, executing, and evaluating museum education and community engagement programs at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts in Lubbock Texas, the Start Art Program in Kent, Ohio, and the Casa San Ysidro: the Gutiérrez/Minge House in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has completed her Masters’ Degree in Arts Administration with the Savannah College of Art and Design.  

“Jordan’s experience with artists and community groups has given her incredible skills that add to her work with programming and visitor engagement for all ages. We can’t wait to see the new ideas she’ll bring to the museum to complement our work” Museum Director Hollis J. Gillespie said.  “She has a passion for education and service to the community.”
