NSMLV Welcomes New Registrar

The Nevada State Museum in Las Vegas has hired Melanie Coffee as Registrar for the organization. This position is part of the Division of Museums and History within the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. This position stewards the permanent collection — working to ensure proper collection management, managing exhibitions, and supporting academic access to the permanent collection.

Ms. Coffee’s background includes over fifteen years of experience in operations, project development, and management for cultural arts non-profits, with a specialty in diversity and inclusion.

“Melanie brings unique experience and deep ties in the Las Vegas area,” Museum Director Hollis J. Gillespie said.  “She has a deep understanding of audience development and sustainability issues facing museums in the Las Vegas area, which she explored in her master’s thesis. She will be an incredible addition to our staff.”

Ms. Coffee’s most recent positions were held at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, the Liberace Foundation, and The Neon Museum.
