The Venetian is located where the Sands Hotel and Casino used to stand. Construction started in 1997 and the final building comprised of 3,036 rooms, was 35 storys high and eventually cost $1.5 billion – making it one of the most expensive resorts of its time.
Themed on the sights of Venice in Italy, the resort has a replica Rialto Bridge, a tower emulating St. Mark’s Campanile – the bell tower of St Mark’s Basilica and painted ceilings in the style of Tintoretto and Fumiani.
