2019 Summer Family Programs @ NSMLV Start June 1
Come join us!! Families can explore Nevada topics through demonstrations, activities, and art projects Saturday afternoons beginning at 1 pm this summer in the Museum’s Education Room. No registration is required, and programs are free with regular museum admission.
2019 Summer Family Program Dates (activities begin at 1 pm)
June 1 – Carson City – How did sleepy Carson City become the capital of Nevada? Learn that and more when we take a virtual trip to our capital city.
June 8 – Nevada Skies – Nevada’s dark skies make it one of the best places in the country for star gazing. Aspiring astronomers will learn all about planets and stars, and even take a peek at the sun through a special telescope.
June 15 – Pony Express – We’ll use a giant map of Nevada to trace the route taken by these famous riders.
June 22 – Old Fashioned Toys – What did kids do for fun before video games and tablets? Try out some old fashioned toys and make some of your own to take home!
June 29 – Aviation Innovation – Come find out all the ways aviation has been a part of the Nevada story.
July 6 – Nevada Artists – See some works of art by local artists, and try out some artistic techniques yourself!
July 13 – Building Nevada – From Hoover Dam to Hyperloop, we’ll explore the past, present, and future of Nevada engineering feats.
July 20 – Showtime! – Las Vegas is world famous for its shows. Explore your inner superstar by making your own headdress, practicing your puppeteering skills, and learning some magic tricks.
July 27 – Silver State Stories – Come sit by the campfire and hear some stories about Nevada. You might even get inspired to write your own story!
August 3 – Triassic Nevada – Nevada wasn’t always a desert! Escape the summer heat by imagining a time when Nevada was at the bottom of a sea ruled by ichthyosaurs.
